Casey's Coming?
Several weeks ago, I got a call from a gentleman
representing Casey's Service Stations. He was wanting information on
county beer regulations pertaining to a property at Eatons Crossroads. I
explained that that location would not be eligible for a county beer
permit due to the proximity to the church and school across the street.
Loudon County has the strictest beer permit regulations allowed by the
state.
In fairness, I did tell him that the property in question would be eligible for annexation into Lenoir City and that Lenoir City had virtually no beer permit regulations and that the city would grant a beer permit to almost any location within the city, churches and schools not withstanding. He seemed to already be aware of that. Fast forward to the last Lenoir City planning commission meeting, a representative for Casey's had applied for annexation into the city. The planning commission approved the annexation request. The property is located at the west intersection of Hwy. 70 and Hwy. 321, directly across the street from Weigel's. So, it appears the Crossroads is going to get another gas station, sometime. |
